I took an online test to determine my creative problem solving profile. I leaned about this test from over at Todd Warfel’s blog.
An optimizer favors thinking abstractly and evaluation in problem solving. This person’s greatest interest lies in turning abstract ideas into practical solutions and plans. They do considerable ongoing “mental testing” of idea. An optimizer’s knowledge is organized in such a way that, through hypothetical-deductive reasoning, he/she can focus it on a specific problem. They are able to sort through large amounts of data and pinpoint “what’s wrong” in a given situation. Optimizers tend to be quite confident of their ability to make a sound, logical, evaluation and select the best option or solution for a problem.Optimizers are interested in Idea Evaluation and Selection and Action Planning.
And the link would be? I am curious about my own profile
I can’t believe I missed adding the link to the test. Sorry about that. It’s there now :)
This is totally true. Weird. I am 100% in the 4th quadrant. Hoep that’s not bad lol.
Fourth Quadrant – Implementer
If your profile falls most strongly in the fourth quadrant, your dominant style is likely to be Implementer. This person tends to use direct experience and evaluation in problem solving. His/Her greatest interest lies in getting things done, carrying out plans and experiments and becoming involved in new experiences. They tend to ”try things out” rather than ”mentally test”. Implementers tend to excel in those situations where they must adapt themselves to specific immediate circumstances and ”make things work somehow”. A complete understanding is not necessary for this person to proceed. Thus, he/she may be more of a risk taker than people with the other three styles. In situations where the theory does not fit the facts, they will mostly likely discard the theory. Implementers are enthusiastic and at ease with people, but are sometimes seen as impatient or even ”pushy” as they try to make plans and ideas into realities. They will try as many different approaches as necessary until they find one that is sufficiently acceptable to those people affected. They will ”follow-up” and ”bird-dog” as necessary to ensure the new procedure will ‘’stick”. This quadrant suggests interests in Gaining Acceptance and Implementation.
